India’s journey toward universal sanitation took a historic turn with the launch of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) on 2nd October 2014. Under this flagship initiative, India achieved the massive milestone of becoming Open Defecation Free (ODF) by 2nd October 2019—on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi—by constructing over 100 million toilets across rural India.
To ensure the sustainability of this achievement and address the next set of challenges, the mission has now entered its next stage: Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen (SBM-G) Phase-II, or the ODF Plus phase.
As part of its continued efforts to engage the public and raise awareness, a nationwide quiz titled “Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen Phase-II Quiz” has been launched.
